About Arabella

Arabella is a Swift 40, actually measures 39.1' long, 13.3' beam, draws only 5.5', has a total displacement of 24,300 lbs with 8937# in the keel. She was designed by Sparkman & Stephens and built in Busan, Korea by Swallowcraft to Lloyds of London standards. This means she was designed and built to go on any ocean in the world in complete safety. She was purchased by Captain Mike in Puerto Vallarta in April of 2003 and sailed up to Ensenada, where she got an expert bottom job and some minor repairs at the Baja Naval yard. She was then brought to Channel Islands harbor where the Captain and Ladysailor used to live, and got a bit more work done on her, including some new electronics and varnish work. She was basically all ready to go for an extended cruise when purchased, but was a little out of date, electronically speaking. She now boasts a state of the art integrated radar/ GPS/ depth-sounder/ speed/ water temperature display in the cockpit, linked to one at the navigation station.

About Mike and Barb

Barb and Mike Fulmor are both experienced sailors who have been sailing all their lives. Mike is a licensed Captain with a 50 ton master's ticket, and is ASA certified up to Advanced Coastal Cruising Instructor. Barb has been sailing since she was a Mariner Girl Scout, cruising the Channel Islands off Southern California on tall ships, and has raced in the Ensenada race. We were married on Arabella while she was moored in Avalon Harbor, Catalina Island, during our trip north to Channel Islands.

Anyway the two of us cut the docklines in late October '03 and sailed Arabella down to Cabo San Lucas just ahead of the infamous Baja Ha Ha. From there we cruised to Mazatlan, down to Puerto Vallarta, and ultimately to Manzanillo before heading to the northern Sea of Cortez for the summer. See the log for the story of that season as well as current details and an account of our current travels.

We cruised Mexico 2003 through 2007, then we headed across the Pacific for the Puddle Jump. After some health issues cropped up in Vanuatu, she ended up in Bundaberg, Australia, where she was sold March 31, 2010.
